This online workshop addresses the foundations of music learning, inviting focused attention, and setting the stage for advanced workshops on rhythm and tonal syllables and music reading. Take 2-4 weeks to complete this workshop at home, on your own schedule. Satisfactory completion of the 5 hours of professional development will be determined by interactive materials and website tracking of your involvement in required materials.

Songs for Early Childhood

Discover an abundance of songs for early childhood. Enjoy Play Songs that engage young children and parents in delightful music activity. Engage with Art Songs written for tender ages that compel young children. Explore Gem Songs that feed music learning while delighting children. Check out songs in various tonalities and meters, songs with lyrics of folk rhymes from many cultures, haiku, and poems of many distinguished poets. All songs are from the Come Children Sing Institute SONG LIBRARY and composed by Mary Ellen Pinzino. View notation, hear songs, and print songs of your choice at your own computer. Take 2-4 weeks to complete this workshop at home, on your own schedule. Satisfactory completion of the 5 hours of professional development will be determined by interactive materials and website tracking of your involvement in required materials. A certificate for 5 hours of online professional development from the Come Children Sing Institute will be awarded upon completion, with the option of .5 CUE from Indiana University/Purdue University, Indianapolis.

Project

This written project requires the application of content of the above workshops to your own classroom, integrating curriculum, lesson planning, and choice of song materials to enhance music learning. You can take 2-4 weeks to complete the assignment.  Satisfactory completion of the 5 hours of professional development will be determined by the grasp of content of the two workshops, as demonstrated in this project.
