We have all had the experience of responding to the enthusiastic request, “Again! Again!” so many times that we could no longer tolerate one more repetition. It is through repetition that the young child learns. You may get numerous requests to repeat any individual CCS Activity. You may find that as your little one moves into Rhythm and Tonal Syllables, those requests can become even more frequent and more specific. Your little one might even favor one particular meter or tonality, getting impatient if you activate the “wrong” one. Repetition is necessary for learning. Your little one stacks cups over and over before making sense of size. Your little one will need to hear Rhythm and Tonal Syllables over and over, in order to make sense of them. Go along with your child, whether he favors rhythm or tonal, or one meter over another. The request indicates that he needs more time with the aural toy to “figure out how it works.” Just as any favorite toy will soon be replaced by another, so will a favorite CCS Activity soon be replaced by another. You won’t forever have to listen to the same activity, “Again! Again!”
